scarborough support services: news & views spring/summer2004 volume 18, issue 1
As part of the celebration of National Volunteer Week, on April 14th the Scarborough Association for Volunteer Administration (SAVA) hosted an event to honour volunteers in the community of Scarborough.
Scarborough Association for Volunteer Administration has created a forum for agencies like ourselves the opportunity to present awards and personally thank these local heroes for their contribution to our community.
Scarborough Support Services would like to extenda congratulations to all those who were honoured by the Scarborough Association for Volunteer Administration. Our very own Alvin Wong, student from Albert Campbell Collegiate Telephone Reassurance Program and Jim and Alice Larkin, Meals On Wheels Driver/Runner were among the recipients. Jim was unable to be at the ceremony because he was ill that day.
For those who were not honoured, it is important for you to know that you have also touched the hearts and improvedthe quality of life for countless others in the community of Scarborough. And for that we would like to thank you as well for your hard work and dedication to the community of Scarborough.
As a result of all your contributions, last year we accumulated over 43,200 hours of community based volunteer time.
Thank you again for being apart of our group of friends. NV
